Weed control for North Metro Atlanta lawns

Weed control that gets ahead of them.

Crabgrass in June, henbit in February, nutsedge every time it rains. The weeds around here never really take a season off, so we don't either. We get a barrier down before each wave and treat whatever slips through with the right product for that weed.

  • Pre-emergent: Feb to Mar and Sep to Oct
  • Post-emergent: every visit as needed
  • Nutsedge: Jun to Aug
Weed Control on a North Georgia lawn
Why it matters here

North Georgia isn't a generic lawn.

There are two windows that really matter here. One's late winter, before the crabgrass germinates. The other's early fall, before the poa annua, henbit and chickweed get going. Miss either one and you'll spend the next six months chasing weeds that never had to come up.

  • Pre-emergent split into two applications, so the barrier holds longer
  • Post-emergents matched to the weed, not a blanket spray over everything
  • Nutsedge, dallisgrass and clover each get their own product, because one doesn't do it all
How we do it
  1. We get a barrier down first

Pre-emergent goes down in late winter and again in early fall, so most of the seeds never get the chance to sprout.

  2. We figure out what you've got

Broadleaf weeds, grassy weeds and sedges all take different products, so we walk the yard and name them before we spray anything.

  3. We treat what's up and come back to check

Whatever's already growing gets spot treated on the visit, and we look it over again on the next round to make sure it took.

  4. We fix what let them in

Thin turf is an open door for weeds. Feeding and aeration are a big part of keeping them out for good.

Questions about weed control

The ones we hear most.

Why do I still see weeds after a treatment?

Pre-emergent stops new seeds, but it doesn't do anything to weeds that are already up. Those get a post-emergent and take a week or two to die back. Stubborn ones like nutsedge sometimes need a second pass, and that's normal.

Can you kill weeds without hurting the grass?

Yes. Selective herbicides go after broadleaf weeds and sedges and leave your grass alone, as long as the product's matched to the grass. That matters a lot on Fescue, so we're careful about it.

I just overseeded Fescue. Can I still get pre-emergent?

Not on the seeded areas, not until the new grass has been mowed a few times. Just tell us when you seeded and we'll work the fall round around it.

Want weed control handled this season?

Two minutes to tell us about your yard. We'll get back to you within one business day. No contracts to sign on the spot.
